I did.

Our names are a huge part of our identities…Given by our parents, modified into nicknames we may or may not like, and sometimes linked to our ancestors or favorite family members.

Names have ancient roots or meanings that we often are unaware of. Sometimes, though, our names don’t represent who we really are, or who we want to be.

This is a topic on my mind because I recently changed my name. My new name has deep meaning for me and the timing has been interesting as I have another new beginning in my life.  The two events intersected as if preordained, though it was unintentional on my part.

I’ve been accepted into a Master’s Program in Counseling and Psychology, specializing in Trauma and Abuse.

I start this new chapter with my new name.

Zoe Renee.  Meaning “Life Reborn.”

What name would you choose to rename yourself?
