Last night I watched “Sully” with Tom Hanks,
My heart pounded,
Memories rose with angst.
(This is the lake we crashed in, photo taken a prior year than our crash)
We each crashed in the water,
Me a frightened child,
He a hero, husband, and father
155 souls, alive in the Hudson,
Coast Guard to the rescue,
Comfort among destruction.
At the Alaskan lake so remote,
Dad depraved, me degraded.
Recovery team took hours, I lost hope.
The torn shelter first my salvation,
No longer a haven of warmth and safety,
Now just another place, another altercation.
So much trauma, my brain couldn’t hold,
35 years gone by,
Emotions still unfold.

Thanks, Amy.
It is amazing how powerful some events are, and the lasting effects they can have.
It was so great catching up with Katy last summer, and Diny too. It would fun to see you one of these days as well.

I love that you wrote a few words. I miss your spirit.
Sending good karma and white light of health and wellness your way.
Your words always seem to be swirling in grace and strength.
So glad you felt like writing a few words, again.
I will visit again.

Denise, I’ve been thinking about you lately. It is so good to see you writing again. And I am finally, after 3 years, ready to start writing again. It will be after I move and get settled again, but I’m younger now and happier and full of life again. Welcome back…I hope you’re around to stay.

I understand about how fresh it becomes with remembering (reliving?) past trauma.
