I have proudly (and fiercely) considered myself an independent woman. However, I’ve come to realize my Independence came at a cost of being overly self-sufficient and lonely. A healthier variety of Independence is one of liberty, dignity and freedom.
Last week, in honor of Independence Day, Karen S. Elliott invited me to share about this on her blog at The Word Shark.
Karen S. Elliott is a proofreader and editor and had an Independence Theme all last week. She felt asking for help was a good start to becoming independent from abuse and dysfunction so she shared my post on Admitting A Need For Help.
Karen has many thought-provoking posts, including What They’ll Find When They Do My Autopsy. She’s funny, smart and to the point.
If you like to be challenged, I encourage you to visit the Word Shark and meet Karen S. Elliott for yourself.

That’s something I really love about you, Karen! You are proactive, you speak your mind and you have a generous heart!

Wow. I’m overwhelmed. What a lovely post. Thank you so much, Denise. I do love to promote others. I scan loads of blogs every week – looking for gems, looking for guest bloggers, and yes, looking for people who will fit my theme weeks. I don’t wait for people to come to me, I go after people to guest blog with me! And with each new guest blogger – with all the correspondence and sharing – I get to know THE PERSON. You, Denise, are a gem.
